Professional Background
With 20 years
experience as an entrepreneur and business owner, I have enjoyed
a fun and varied professional life. I received a BFA in Studio
Art from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist
University, where I also did extensive coursework in psychology
and sociology. During college and for four years after, I was a
print and runway fashion model and instructor at
modeling/finishing schools. It was in the work I did outside of
established curriculum with the young women at those schools,
which focused appreciating and expressing their inner beauty,
which started me on the path to Life Coaching.
After I married, I sold real estate for several years, becoming
the top producer in my first year. During that time I also
enjoyed buying and restoring historic houses for resale.
From the moment I bought my first home I began taking a strong interest
in horticulture and environmental issues. While my son,
Alexander, was little I had the pleasure of staying at home with
him, which was a great gift. During those years, I became
an expert in my horticultural hobby. I won numerous top floral design
awards and literally hundreds of awards in horticulture. I began
lecturing extensively about garden and floral design, horticulture
and the environment to garden clubs throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex area and East Texas as well as being the featured speaker
at events in venues as diverse as Neiman Marcus, the Dallas Arboretum
and Botanical Society, and The Dallas Independent School District
Program for the Visually Impaired. I started my landscape design
firm, Whimsical Gardens, in 1997. I have also served on numerous
Arts, civic and gifted education boards, including the Landscape
Oversight Committee for the Katy Trail, the development of the largest
city park/bike trail in the Dallas. In early 2003 I
was asked to be the garden writer for a regional magazine, then
a contributing editor, which lead to features in national publications.
Writing regular columns and features in local and national magazines
made me realize a love of writing as well.
Although I loved and still love landscaping,
I began to feel a strong pull to dedicate more of myself to the
devotion I have to people and helping them live their most fulfilling
and joyous lives. When I found Life Coaching, I knew I had found
my true calling. I received my coaching training at the world
renowned
Coaches Training
Institute (CTI), based in San Rafael, California.
Personal Background
I was born in Dallas, Texas and my family moved to Europe when I
was six years old. We lived in Rome, Italy; Edinburgh, Scotland
and in East Anglia in the English countryside until I was in my
teens. I have a deep love of travel and being immersed in
other cultures and these experiences have influenced my coaching,
my art, my designs and my life. While living abroad,
and throughout my life, I traveled a great deal. Some of the
places I have visited include Russia, Czech Republic and East Germany,
all during communist control; Turkey, Greece and virtually all of
Western Europe as well as several Caribbean Islands. I have
traveled extensively throughout the US and Mexico and have also
spent time in Bali, Indonesia, which was a deeply transformational
experience for me.
I love to find, appreciate and express beauty in the world, both
artistically and personally. I love gardening and floral
design, cooking and entertaining, interior design, renovating old
houses, singing, painting, meditating, traveling, dancing, children
of all ages, virtually anything furry, learning and growing, great
conversations, spiritual growth, being in breathtaking nature and
finding the restaurant with best view in a new city and having a
glass of wine there.
